Every job in Arthengard runs for a fixed number of hours. Sometimes you want to end it early, because you misclicked or because your character is needed for something more important. That is what cancelling is for.
You will find the cancel button right at the progress bar of your running job, meaning where it shows you how much longer your character is busy.
The Hour Principle
Picture your job as a row of boxes. Each box is one hour of work. The line shows where you currently stand.
A 6 hour job, cancelled in the middle of the fourth hour.
Green hours count as normal. The yield ends up where it would go anyway, meaning the city storage, your inventory, or as progress on a task. You also receive gold for those hours.
The red hour is lost. Its material has already been consumed, but no result is produced. A half sawn log is simply not a plank. That work is therefore thrown away.
Yellow hours are treated as if you had never started them. The material that was set aside comes back, and it returns to wherever it came from. City jobs return it to the city storage, personal jobs to your inventory. You also get the action points for those hours back.
Fame When Cancelling
Anyone who cancels receives no fame for that job. No matter how much work was already done and no matter when you cancel.
One important point: only the fame from this one job is forfeited. The fame you have already collected stays with you in full.
The First 10 Minutes Are Free
Within the first 10 minutes after the start, cancelling costs nothing. You get all action points and all materials back in full, but you also receive no result. This is the "I misclicked" window.
When Cancelling Is No Longer Possible
Special Case: Exploration and Occupation
Exploration and occupation assignments consist of three parts: the outbound journey, the work on site, and the return journey. Cancelling does not end the job immediately here, because your character is standing somewhere out on the map.
In both cases your character is only available again after the return journey.
Special Case: Tavern Visit
A tavern visit consumes nothing at the start, so there is nothing to refund. You receive the action point recovery proportionally for the full hours you spent there.
In Short
- Full hours are paid, the hour in progress is lost, the rest comes back
- No fame for a cancelled job, but collected fame stays safe
- First 10 minutes free, last 15 minutes locked
- Fights, crafting, and raids cannot be cancelled
- Exploration and occupation always add the return journey
