Open Battle

The open battle is the classic city fight: the attack is announced, both cities gather fighters, and when time runs out a battle decides who may plunder the target city's supplies.

Requirements

An attack is declared by the streamer or a count with the right for city PVP. Both cities must take part in city PVP. New cities are protected for the first 28 days and can neither attack nor be attacked. After an attack, the attacking city has to wait 48 hours, and the attacked city is also safe from further attacks during that time.

Course of the Battle

Declaring the attack starts a gathering phase of 12 hours. The target city is notified immediately and can prepare. During this time, citizens of both cities can join the battle. Joining requires a character with health, and joined fighters take part automatically when time runs out. The other side only sees the number of participants, not their names.

The defenders have two options: Fight or Hide. The city fights by default. The decision can be changed until the gathering phase ends. More in the article Hiding.

The Fight

If the city decides to fight, all participants of both sides face each other in a group fight. The rules match normal combat: attack rating, defense rating, critical hits, spells and potions work as usual.

  • The defenders receive the defense bonus of the city wall. The higher its level, the bigger the bonus.
  • Potions and scrolls used in combat are gone afterwards.
  • After the fight, survivors automatically use potions to recover.
  • If no defender joins, the attackers get free access to the storage without a fight.
  • If no attacker joins, the attack is cancelled.

Victory and Defeat

If the defenders win, the storage stays untouched. If the attackers win, the surviving attackers take loot from the city storage and the city gold. Goods hidden in the Catacombs stay protected even then. After a fight, the battle can be viewed as a combat log in the PVP tab.

How Much Loot Is Possible

The loot depends on the carrying capacity of the attackers. For every 10 points of Strength and Vitality of an attacker, room for 20 goods is freed up, and 100 gold take up one slot. Strong and sturdy fighters therefore carry more. If there is more loot than can be carried, a proportional share of everything is taken.

Tips

  • As an attacker, a large group with high Strength and Vitality pays off because it can carry more.
  • As a defender, every citizen counts. An upgraded city wall and good equipment often decide the fight.
  • If the situation looks bad, hiding is a good alternative to fighting.
