Decree Board

The Decree Board in the city view holds your city's decrees. This is where you announce building goals, call for donations, or welcome new citizens. With a few simple Markdown commands you can make your notices clear and easy to read.

Who Can Write?

Every player who visits your city can read the board. Only the Duke or Duchess and Counts who have been granted the Town hall right can create, edit, and delete notices.

How to Write a Notice

New noticeClick the card with the plus sign. A new note appears and opens for writing right away.
EditSimply click the text of an existing note and the input field opens.
SaveThe check mark saves your text. The cross or the Escape key cancels without changing anything.
DeleteUse the small cross in the top right corner of the note. You will be asked once more whether you are sure.
LengthA notice can be up to 2000 characters long. Below the input field you can see how many you have already used.

Highlighting Text

Markdown works with simple characters that you place around a word. When you save, these characters disappear and the word is displayed accordingly.

You writeResultGood for
**important**importantBold text for anything that should catch the eye immediately
*emphasis*emphasisItalic text for light emphasis or names
~~cancelled~~cancelledStruck through text when a goal is done or no longer relevant
`#joincity`#joincityChat commands your citizens should type exactly as shown

Headings

Put a hash sign at the start of a line to turn it into a heading. The more hash signs you use, the smaller it gets. Make sure there is a space between the hash signs and the text.

# Large headingLarge heading
## Medium headingMedium heading
### Small headingSmall heading

Lists

For a bulleted list, start each line with a hyphen and a space. If you want a numbered list, write a number followed by a period instead.

You write
- 200 wood logs
- 150 stones
- 50 iron ingots

1. Upgrade the sawmill
2. Repair the city wall
Result
  • 200 wood logs
  • 150 stones
  • 50 iron ingots
  1. Upgrade the sawmill
  2. Repair the city wall

Quotes and Dividers

A greater than sign at the start of a line turns your text into a quote. It is set apart with a coloured bar at the edge and slanted text, which works well for words of thanks or sayings.

Three hyphens alone on a line create a divider. Be sure to leave an empty line before it, otherwise the line above becomes a heading.

You write
> Every delivery counts!

---

Thank you to all citizens.
Result
Every delivery counts!

Thank you to all citizens.

Line Breaks and Paragraphs

A single press of Enter starts a new line, exactly as you see it in the input field. If you want a new paragraph with a little more space, simply leave an empty line.

External Links Are Disabled

The Decree Board is visible to every player. To make sure nobody can be lured to unknown or dangerous websites through a notice, links are deliberately disabled there. In detail this means:

  • A Markdown link such as [Discord](https://...) is not converted, but appears exactly as you wrote it.
  • A pasted web address stays plain text and cannot be clicked.
  • Images via ![Image](https://...) are not displayed either.
  • HTML commands such as <b> do not work and are shown as plain text.

If you still want to point your community to something, simply mention its name, for example your channel's Discord, and share the link yourself in the Twitch chat.

Characters Without Formatting

Sometimes you really want to show an asterisk or a hash sign as a character. In that case, put a backslash in front of it and Markdown leaves the character alone. This way \*5 stars\* becomes *5 stars* with visible asterisks instead of italic text.

A Complete Example

This is what a finished notice combining several commands could look like.

You write
## Building Goal of the Week
We are upgrading the **Sawmill** to level 5!

We need:
- 200 wood logs
- 150 stones

> Every delivery counts, thank you!

---
